Hydra 52s. Gonna move two of my Vegas to my 55g, and sell the other 2 plus 2 hydras from 55g.

Went to a local reef expo here in Raleigh, NC today. (Reefsmart 2013).

    Some spoils :)

Sorry for blurry pics, lighting on pics did not come out as good either. Video came out nice lighting wise:

Awesome...wish I had heard about it. I would have made the drive up. Did you grab any nice pieces?

Thanks for nice comments as usual Corailline.

So I go my Hydra 52s in and mounted them (replacing 4 AI Vega Colors). Measured PAR again.

    - Hydra 52s have higher PAR output than Vega Color it seems. Same intensity, same AWL, mid-tank I am now getting 625..700 PAR directly under the light. With Vega Color it was more 450..500.
    - The lighting is more uniform. There's still some swings going left to right under the fixture, but they don't appear as crazy.
    - Ton less disco effect. Entire tank seems more uniformly lit color wise.
    - Def brighter (as par statement above proves). Have it set to 40% acclimation now for a month.

    Some downsides/issues:

    - Two of my fixtures hum a little. Like electronic (capacitor) type hum. It's audible if you stand next to the tank. Not audible from 6 feet away.
    - Two of the fixtures had fans making crazy racket. Had to pop the fan grill off and slightly bend the fan propeller (you can adjust it's axis a lil). That solved it.
    - Fixtures run a lot hotter, even my mounting rails are warm. I think fans don't kick soon enough.
    - It uses higher watt power supply than Vega colors. Not really a downside, just FYI.
