    Thanks :)

    After 10 days of cycling:
    Ammonia is at zero.
    Nitrite at 1.0 ppm
    Nitrate at 20 ppm.

Don't think I got an ammonia spike at all. Probably because I used Instant Ocean Bio-Spira to seed the tank.

Diatoms are starting to show up. A soon as NO2/NO3 are in check, will add a small CUC to start.

Tank is wrapping up it's cycling. I guess theoretically it's already cycled since my ammonia and nitrite spikes are gone. Reading about 20ppm nitrate. Got tons of dyno and added CUC.

Also added first two inhabitants. Two small green chromis to roam around. Feeding the tank a little too.

So all together it took about 3 weeks to cycle. I used table shrimp and some IO Bio-Spira.

Vortex skimmer was overflowing like crazy for 2 weeks during cycle. I even built a stand for it to raise it up, as my wedge pipe was fully open already, but it just kept going total berserk. Someone on RC suggested I run some carbon. So I hooked up my reactor and ran carbon. Day later it was all perfect. Got rid of the stand now. Guess there was something in the water.

    Pic of overflowing days:

I really hope it is diatom instead of dyno.

My skimmer does the same thing when I put epoxy etc in the tank. I drain the skimmate with extended hose into a Rubbermaid for a few hours. Good advice tho to run (extra) carbon during that period.

I like the scape, a lot of room for placement, can't wait to see till filled!

    Heh, thats what i meant.

At first i felt like i should add more rock, but then i recalled someone else thread with before and after shots and realized corals not only need placement room but also room to grow. I feel this should do nicely. Thanks.

    Thanks.

Got all the probes working. 2 temp probes (dt and sump), pH and ORB probes. Apex will be sending me alerts now if things get out of whack, and shut off heaters if temps get too high.

I've also removed ATO that came with tank, kept only the pump, and added 3 float switches connected to apex, and wrote my own ATO program. I have low sump, high sump and low ato float switches now, and can control ATO via Apex. Low ATO is the best, reminds me to refill it.

You can lookup my tank info on reeftronics:

If this forum allowed images in sigs, this would be my sig. Lol, I guess that shows why it's not allowed :)

First two inhabitants, not counting snails, were two tiny green chromis. They've already grew a little.

Today, first big inhabitant moved in, and promptly began re-arranging things:
