Everyone is doing well. Sleeper goby made tons of little hiding places.

One of the caves he made, he dug all the way to the bottom of the glass. So at night, when fuge red LED light is on, from DT it looks like creepy red light coming out of his cave. We dubbed the "The Troll Cave".

I've also got Apex WXM module working with 4 of my vortech pumps. Two on new tank and two on old.

I just love Apex/Vortech integration. Now instead of running just one mode, my system cycles through all of them. On top of that, in every mode (except few certain ones) it cycles 2nd pump between sync and anti-sync modes every 30 minutes. I've also created virtual outlet that lets me quickly turn WAVE on, to show off to visitors some standing wave action :)

Since all my pumps are synced to the same master, both of my tanks have the same wave/mode going at the same time and make same noise, which is cool as hell.

Also, if I turn feed mode on, all 4 of my vortechs in both of my tanks go to 25% slow circulation, making it easy for me to feed both tanks.

Below are my programs if anybody cares:

Tidal Swell Mode = 2.5 Hours
    NTM = 75 mins

Been a while since my last update.

I've since added 4 squareback anthias. 3 female and 1 male. They seem to be doing great. Females are eating PE Mysis, mussles, life line and cyclopeze. Male been eating PE Mysis only so far. I hope he broadens his diet. I'll add pics/video ASAP.

Overall, I been battling a pretty serious cyano outbreak. It started before I added new fish, so I know it's not an extra bio-load.

Now that I read more, I made a pretty huge mistake. I've not cured the BRS pukani rock. I've emailed BRS and asked if it needs to be cured, but they said no. Well, now I got cyano growing from every crevice of that rock.

I've tried 48h lights out blockade, and it helped some, but overall not much has changed.

I am running BRS GFO, BRS Carbon and skimming wet, yet there's no end in sight.

Based on some recommendations from various posts, I am going to give Microbe-Lift Special Blend a shot. It's that, or kind of start from scratch at this point :(

    I think I need a hug.

LoL sorry to laugh but I love your newest title. "cyano damn you BRS Pukani". Did you rinse the rocks beforehand? Are you using RO/DI water?

Yeah, I rinsed it. I make my own RODI. Fresh pre-filter and carbon filter. RO membranes and DI stages still good. 0 TDS.

It looks like there's a ton of dead organics in the rock crevices, dead sponges etc. I dunno how I did not notice before.

Interesting, I had the same problem during my rebuild. I took out all of the coral, added a refugium and live sand plus let the display run for 4 months without lights and it cleared itself up. I only kept six chromis and two tangs during this period.

Pukani is great rock...but it needs to be cycled for a bit before adding it to a reef. It has tons of dead organics. I cycled mine in a rubbermaid container for 3-4 months before adding it to a previous tank. Love the rock and would buy again. Good luck. Run some carbon and GFO and it will work itself out.

    Thanks.

I've went ahead and added first dose of special blend. Holy crap it stank! I was smart enoguh to open bottle and pour it into measuring cup outside. Then ran in quick and added it to DT. Still stank up my house for about an hour and water still smells bad.

But, i gotta tell you. 4 hours later, water is crystal clear. Did not realise how cloudy it was until i see it now. Also visibly less cyano on rock, its loosing color and big clumps are coming off.

Fish seem not to care. I added marineland canister filter to do some polishing and add even more air just in case. Skimmer running too.

So fari have my hopes up.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned but your tank is barely 6 weeks old.........You are going to fight cyano and all sorts of other stuff before your tank become stable. When you start dumping "treatment" in the tank, you are just putting a bandage on the issue. The issue is a young tank...that's it. I wouldn't bother with any of this stuff and just let the cyano run it's course. You can suck it up in a turkey baster but it's going to hang around until it's food source is gone.

i see what u are saying, but i think this is a somewhat different situation.

if i dosed some medicine to specifically target cyano, i'd agree with you. but what i am dosing is designed to break down waste that fuels cyano and outcompete it for nutrients. the amount of crap in my uncured rock will most likely take month to break down otherwise. i am simply hoping to accelerate the process.
