Thanks agustim for your response. I will be using LFS ro water. I live in a condo and won't be able to set up a RO/DI easily. But i will have the LFS test the water before i buy it.

Face off: i think i am going with the Pukani rock, how much do you suggest i will need for the 90?

Cjrudy: what are you also considering for your light other then the AquaticLife fixture?

Question about return pump: why buy a larger pump return pump and just dial it down? why not just get one with the correct flow and not dial it down, wouldn;t that be more cost effective and energy efficient?

I am ordering my live rock, skimmer and return pump tonight so any other suggestions would be a great help!

    Thanks again everyone!

Well i decided to go with the Pukani from bulk reef supply. Ordered 80 pounds, guy said they just got a huge new shipment in and had some real cool pieces.

Sorry I didn't get back before you ordered...80 should be fine. You'll have some left over, but that just means that you can scape EXACTLY what you want instead of trying to fit the rock you have into the scape you want. DO NOT add this to a tank that has livestock already. It has more dead matter on it than most dry rock. You also won't need to add anything for a cycle, as it has enough dead matter that it will start itself off once you add water.

Pics are a must when you unbox all of the rock!

As far as the return pump question, I would also suggest getting a slightly oversized pump and ball valving it to the perfect flow.

The LFS will usually tell you that their systems run 0 TDS water and then show it to you on the TDS meter, just make sure it reads 0.00 ppm on the meter.

Also, most RO/DI systems have faucet adapters you can purchase through their company. I just ordered a spectrapure 90gpd with a faucet adapter for $305. They're having a sale this month on that model. Getting this system helped me beat back an algae epidemic bc of the LFS water quality.

Not trying to bash LFS's, I just had a bad experience and want to forewarn. If the LFS is selling good RO water then you shouldn't have any issues.

I Figured 80 would be a bit much but i figured it would give me options and i can pump some in my sump and trade some for a coral or something if need be. i was thinking of going with a mag 9.5 for the return pump. And either
Bubble Magus BM-NAC7 Cone Protein Skimmer - English

    or

    Reef Octopus 6

I will have to check into the RO/DI units was not aware i could hook it up to a faucet.

Well got my skimmer, return pump and a few power heads in today.
And I need some advice on how tall to get my baffles cut for the sump.

How tall for the skimmer section/bubble traps and how tall for the refuge area?

how much space should i have for the return pump section i understand this is wear evaporation take place so would like to have a decent amount of water in that section.

i know a 20 gallon long is a bit tight but thats what i have to work with.

    the 20 gallon is 30in L x 13in W x 12in H.

    Thanks for the help!
