    Thanks, Marshall O :)

After reading the response to my email over and over here is what I think they're telling me: the factory releases a new controller with new features every other day and we don't know when the new ones will arrive. In fact for the wp25 they're on the 5th controller. Even if u return it, a newer one will be released shortly....

Am I right? Are they telling me I'm SOL?

Your interpretation of what they said is basically what I understood.
It kinda sounds like their saying sol but I would write them back and say that you want the newest version that they have and you'll send the one you have back to them. Whether a new one will come out tomorrow, you want the new one they have today.

Tadaaaaa! It worked. Got 3 emails:

First one said I can pay 12 for the new controller. I know others were paying 10, but I'll take it.

    Second email:

    HI

Power adjustable is using our 12 24V power supply

For the Jebao 1f controller, it is only add a new function on the W1 model (S1 S2 S3, for 75 to 50% power)

But jebao original controller have 6 model for w1 to w3, and H L.  It's have many customer want a new controller, but they are not know for the usable or easy adustable for the controller. I can say using 12 24 V Power supply is more better for the 1f controller, for S1 to s3 mode only for w1 model. just 100 to 50%

But 12 24W power supply is can adjustable more, since the power can adjustable from 24V to 18.5V

    Thanks

    Eric

    Third email:

    HI

As I say it more clearly, the new controller for add in function just like a toys or add in function, actually using this function is very rarely if you install on the tank. As vortech also have many function on it, but will everyone using each function daily to daily to change?  Using a suitable controller on the tank is enough

But if you still want it, I can send you a papay link to order , but as my opinion, I will not buy it, since the orginial is enough

    Thanks

    Eric

So ... if I understand correctly... is he saying the new power function is only good for W1 mode and that I'm better off with the adjustable voltage brick?

IMO That is exactly what he said, in so many words.

I've been doing a little more research and it sounds like Eric is right... the new controllers only work on W1 for the 50%, 75% and 100% voltage adjustment. I found some mixed reviews where they say it also works on ELSE mode, but they're too mixed to put my finger on it.

What I get from that is that the original controller plus the voltage regulator power brick will allow u to adjust the speed on all settings. Only 3 or 4 people had heating problems with the brick from fish-street, but that's enough to cause a bad first impression.

I'm now at the cross road... and need to figure out whether I want to order the new controller anyway and have a spare for 12 bucks... or use that to get a better brick that has good reviews online to regulate the power output.

As I stated before, the WP-40 isn't too much for my 55G reef. Even though I have very minor sand shifting, I have still got to play with directing the flow in different ways.

That's a tough call. For $12 to have a spare controller isn't bad at all. IMO I would do it.

So how does that work. The knob controls the length of the wave motion right. How do you regulate down to 50% or 75% then.

I'm curious because I should be getting mine early next week.

It is nice to have a backup. S1 S2 and S3 regulate the speed of the pump in the various mode. I had not heard that it only works in Wave mode... that would stink!

Yeah... that's right. S1,2 and S3 regulate the voltage, intensity or power of the wave while the knob controls the length in which the wave is being produced.

As far as the speed only affecting the W1 (short wave pulse) setting, that's what eric stated on one of the first paragraphs of his response titled 2nd email on my post above.... if I deciphered the message right.

I think I'll order the spare anyway.

does anyone know if the amps on the power brick matter? I have a spare laptop power brick that goes like this 12V/4.7A, 15V3.8A, 16V3.6A, 18V/3.2A, 19V/3.1A, 20V/3A
