    New to this site!

Have had a 50 breeder reef along time ago and wanted to start another tank. So I got a 10 gallon and set it up. Light is way overboard i know but im transfering it to the 40 breeder im buying soon.

    Its inhabitants so far are
    7 pounds live rock
    1 pound lace rock
    15lbs white sand from petco
3 damsels, one is a japenese fancy or something
    3 scarlet reef hermits
    1 giant mexican turbo snail
    1 bubble tip anemone
    1 anemone crab
    2 feather dusters
2 polyp colonies one is orange one is green
    Tank is 6 days old

The polyps, feather dusters, snail was all free cause it was on the live rock when i purchased it haha.
    Gotta love petco sometimes

Question is i bought a 150 watt metal halide combo pack with 2 18w actinic tho's and 4 led moonlights.

Should the mh turn on as soon as i turn the balast on, or should it take awhile to turn on?

Had pc last time and they turned right on :p

Pics of it as it sits

    Sad thing is there are no lfs here :{

If you ever get a chance and are in Angola, Indiana stop by sea dwellers!~ Joel is a really nice guy i used to haunt that place hahaha and they have some amazing corals and prices!

    welcome to 3 reef solar0987

MH lamps take a short while to reach full burn and thus full brighness
never timed it, but it could be around 5 minutes or so in my case
they start a dull yellowy color, and then gradually get brighter and brighter

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Welcome to 3reef.

The Metal Halide may take a few seconds to ramp up. Mine starts out very dim and then increases in intensity over a couple minutes.
