Mimic tangs are sweet. Have you looked into the Atlantic Blue tang? Really cool fish with some great color.

    Too big

Nice looking fish, but over a foot long is too big I think. I'm pushing it with the 9.9 inch Purple Tang. Would like to keep the rest under 8 inches. I'm seriously considering these in addition to the Purple Tang:
    Gold Rim Tang (Acanthurus nigricans)
    Mimic Lemonpeel Tang (Acanthurus pyroferus)

I have a gold rim aka whitecheek tang that I absolutely love I say make that your choice, however he is somewhat territorial so I would add the purple first but mine gets along ok with my hippo

    Nice build, Jim.

On a side note, can someone tell me why I cannot see the picture posted above? I can only view pictures about half the time.

    Thanks for dropping by

Thanks for visiting my thread. I believe the reason you can't see the picture is that it has been removed from Photo Bucket. Sometimes when I click on pics from photo bucket, Norton pops up with a warning that the site is not secure. Perhaps your Anti-Virus software is also site aware and is protecting you.

    Thanks

Jay - Thanks for the visit. I was surprised to find out that my wife was more interested in what the members of 3reef thought about my tank than my opinion. Thanks for the encouragement - I'll be sure she reads it.

Glad to hear that the Gold Rim is a good choice - I haven't been real lucky with the one Tang I have. I have a Bristletooth Tomini Tang which turned out to be a real bully. It has killed two Wrasses and two Orange Spot Diamond Gobies. I'll be returning it to the LFS when I tear down the 75.

Thanks for the visit and the advice!

yes, my Norton 360 has expired about two months ago. I may remove it. It gave me troubles even when it was operating the way it was supposed to.

    Todays work and question

    Today:

    • I rinsed the rock I have been curing for the past month an placed it in new salt water for the final rinse - so to speak. The odor is all gone, so I believe it is totally cured.
    • Cut to size the pad for the stand.
    • Made lots of new salt water.
    • Cleaned the Rubber Maid containers where I will be moving the live rock and live sand from the 75.
    • I now have a cooling solution for the overdriven IceCap T5's - I have two 140mm cooling fans which I keep for my computer chassis, but have never used because I installed a radiator cooling system on it. I also have the 12V DC power supply. These puppies have eleven blades which moves quite a bit of air, and they are whisper quiet. For my current 75, I purchased the 120 made for cooling a canopy, and it is VERY noisy. I keep waiting for my canopy to lift off and fly around the room. Now all I need is some L shaped brackets which won't break down from the salt water vapors.
    • Also, I'm back on the fence as to installing the glass canopy which came with my tank. I am at a loss as to what is an accurate statement regarding loss of light. So many different PAR results from 1/700th to 30%. Not sure what to believe anymore. The Oxygen mix at the surface should not be a concern as I will have: a sump, a protein skimmer, and a refugium adding to the oxygen exchange.
I plan on a deep sand bed for the DT and Fuge, but wonder if using the biopellets will have a negative effect on them. I posted a question in General Reef Topics hoping to get some feed back. Here is the link to the post:

Again - thanks to all who visited my thread.
