    Reef Angel changes complete

The programming of the Reef Angel Controller went without incident. Guess I'll have to monitor my Protein Skimmer more diligently now. With it running on a night schedule, just had to check it in the AM and clean if necessary. I've already had to empty the new one twice. It had actual gook whereas the other skimmer only produced clear liquid. PS - Thumbs up for the Hydor Koralia Nano-Skim Protein Skimmer. Does what a skimmer should in a Nano/Mini environment!!

Since I now have the Refugium Column in the back chamber available, I ordered a CPR Aquatic Nano Reactor and some bio-pellets. I used bio-pellets on my 75 and 150 with great success. Once I started using them, my tanks cleaned up very quickly, and my coralline algae went bonkers. Looking for the same success here.

Well it's after four and I haven't received a confirmation that my order of corals has shipped yet. Everything was in stock and set aside waiting for shipment to arrive tomorrow. Dave said that he would call with the information this afternoon. Tic Toc Tic Toc Tic Toc:-/

    Busy

Looks like today and tomorrow will be busy days.

Received my shipment notification on my corals - should be here before 10:30 today.:)

Also received notice that my CPR Nano Reactor will be here on Friday.:)

Still looking into a way to add additional filtration to the overflow where the skimmer is installed.:-/

Corals - Fish - Star in

Shipment arrived on schedule and everyone inside the shipping container was happy. Took several hours with all the interruptions to get everything in place, but tis done.

No one is open, or I'd take some pics - probably Saturday before everyone settles in and gets happy. Then I'll take some pics.

Vivid sent a really nice Flame Angel. It's already grazing the rocks, but didn't take to the myisis shrimp. Guess I'll break out the Spirulina and see if he likes it better.

    Swallotail Angel

I had a Swallotail Angel when I had my 150 and he was great. This is my first Flame Angel, and as we all know behavior is fish dependent.:-/

    Another busy day

Looks like the Hydor skimmer is breaking in nicely. Last 24 hour skim produced less liquid in the cup and darker. It is so nice to have a product that functions properly.

CPR Aquatic Nano Reactor is due to be delivered today. It was shipped USPS, so I'm not sure when to expect it. If it arrives with the normal mail delivery, I'll have it around noon.

The corals I added yesterday seem to be happy with their location. I never noticed this before, but it appears that the blue Zoanthids and Ricordea don't luminesce when the lights drop to actinic only. Anyone know why?

    Post Office surprise

Didn't receive the CPR Nano Reactor yesterday. Looking at the post office Priority Mail status I'm not sure when it will arrive.

I do however think I know why the post office is on the verge of bankruptcy. So far the package has been handled through four facilities and yet to arrive at our local post office. This was the post office status of my delivery this morning (01/14/2012). Note that the expected delivery date is yesterday. Also note that Eureka is north of me, Pasadena is due east, and Santa Clarita is north east. And it still hasn't reached our post office.

    CPR Nano Reactor

Rec'd and installed the CPR Nano Reactor - and like others have said, the Rio pump is noisy - unacceptably so. Just ordered a MaxiJet 400 which is 106GPH vs 85GPH of the Rio+ 90 which shipped with the unit. I'm surprised that they shipped the Rio with all the complaints on the Reactor thread - doesn't say much for the vendor.

Still acclimating the corals to LED lighting - cut time to 6hours and increasing 15 minutes a day. So far no one is bleaching. All the corals appear to be really happy where I put them. They all opened up every polyp today.

I just noticed my first substantial coralline algae. I've seen pin point size evidence that it's there, but today I found a dot the size of an eraser on a no. 2 pencil. Shouldn't be so excited, but it's the first sine of my tank starting to mature. As soon as the bio-pellets kick in the coralline should explode.

    I'll get some pics tomorrow.
