Hey Jim, I bought a 38G Nuvo last week and set it up this week.
I was wondering if I could ask a few questions of someone who's had this up and running now and along the way.

I tried to PM you, but it doesn't show that the message was sent; Not sure if it went through or not.

Your tank has me so excited to ge my Nuvo 38! Can't wait to see more pictures of how it's coming along. What kind of timer are you using with your lights to achieve all 3 cycles? Also will you be posting on youtube...PLEASE SAY YES!

thom - my lights are controlled by my Reef Angel. I will eventually post a video, but there isn't much in the way of corals at this time, so it may be a while.

PS - It would be beneficial if you created a thread for your system in the Show off your Fish Tanks forum. There are people here with a lot more experience than me to answer questions.

    Fish Trap

Well - today is the day I will try to capture the Angel. Found a number of postings here for traps. Hope I can make them work for me.

Modifying water change - Angel status

I've given up on capturing the Flame Angel - Strange thing is that after devouring my Fire & Ice Zoanthids, it hasn't bothered anything else. I thought it was nipping at my clam, but in fact it was eating the algae on the outside of the shell. Seems to be more playful than anything else.

I have also changed my schedule for water changes to every ten days rather than every week. I'm getting about 1/2 gallon a day of ATO water renewal which equates to 3.5 gallons a week or 5 gallons every 10 days. The water is still very clear at 10 days, but an export of nutrients is still in order. I've been doing this schedule for the past 20 days, and everyone in the tank seems happy.

I added a Starry Blenny to the mix this week. Started feeding the corals with Phyto Feast which has added additional algae to the tank. So far he's doing a great job.

Had to remove one of the White Claw Hermits. It got so big that it became destructive to other crabs/starfish in the tank. Your typical bully syndrome.

    Massive Anemone

I was at Vivid Aquariums this week for a new purchase and spotted this in their 800 gallon show tank. This is only a segment of the Anemone - It is huge. It would fill my 38 gallon and overflow.

    Bio-Pellets finally kicking in

It took a while, but it appears the bio-pellets are finally doing their job. I've increased my 14K lighting to 9hrs and the actinics to 12 hours with little increase in algae. I'm also feeding my corals Phyto Feast daily. I'm going to 10 hours on the 14k in 2 minutes per day increases.
