    New skimmer ordered

After seeing how well Bmore30's tank is doing by removing one of the filter packs and installing a Hydor Koralia Nano-Skim, I have decided to do the same. I have had no stability with the current skimmer, it seems to be skimming okay, and then I check later to find it turned to wet skimming. I have corals shipping next week. I ordered it today, it should be here on Tuesday. Hopefully, I can get a couple of days break-in before they arrive. [FONT=&quot]

Hey Jim, it seems like kind of a bumpy ride so far, but I can tell you've been patient and handling great. I enjoyed reading the entire thread tho. If I were to have another tank, it would be really similar to what you have going on!

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks! New tank with all dry sand and rock take a little longer, but it's worth it not to have the nuisance critters that come with live rock and sand.

I completely agree! Yet I see green coverage on the rocks already = coralline?

I have some small dots of coralline starting to form. I don't think the green is coralline as the hermits/snails/Tuxedo urchin love it.

Hey Jim, Thanks for all the info.
I have the Innovative Marine Skkye 92W LED light came as part of tank package. Relativly quiet with a fan and doesn't create much heat.

Replacing the filter seems to be working alright at this time but in reality, time will tell. I removed the filters pads from the other one and replaced all the compartments with the same type of filters, just cheaper. Filter floss, activated carbon in a net and phosphate reducing pads cut to fit. Much cheaper than the innovative marine filters- cost ~$22 at my LFS.
My skimmer seems to be working well and produces ~1/2 cup every 2 days.
I run my tank topless mostly because I didn't like fooling around with the glass lid. I have to top it off with about 1/4 gallon every 2-3 days.
So far things have gone well.

Ordered my first corals from Vivid Aquariums - should be delivered Thursday. Also ordered additional fish (Flame Angel) and Linckia Starfish. Corals are:

    • Ricordea Pack (3 - Multicolor Orange/Green/Blue) + additional Orange
    • Hulk Zoanthids (10 polyps)
    • Blue Devil Zoanthids (10 polyps)
