What is this little shell? It's been hanging around on that rock a couple days. At first I wasn't sure it was alive but I seen it moving. Couldn't see anything sticking out of it though. Also notice the clown fish. Why is it so dark in color? It wasn't that dark when we got it.

Post that pic in the "ID This" forum and pagojoe can tell you what it is. Can you get a focused pic of the clownfish? I'm going to move your thread to the "show off your fiushtank" forum. Let me know if you would like to change your thread title.

Yea getting focused shots of the fish has been something that I am struggling with. Any suggestions on settings? I have a Nikon D5000 with the VR 18-55mm lens. I have been using auto focus just because I really have no clue how to use this camera. :D I'm tryin to get into a DSLR photography class next term but the class is for MM majors only :(

I'm getting into a dig photography class this semester to;D. What mode are you using? I like the aperture priority setting. Then a custom white balance 'til I find the true color of the subject.

You should have an AV setting. This allows a custom aperture and white balance. Everything else will be auto. Bring your camera and I'll show you a couple of tricks. I hardly ever use the flash on my camera.
