    Almost done! The. I'll start taking pictures :)

    How do u know how high to do your stand pipe for the drain? The guy before me had it at 17" however the overflow is 21" high

    The higher it is, the less noise it will make. A few inches below sounds about right.

    Long day, one last Home Depot run for a coupler and then I can finish up with the drain line :) here's some pics

    Tomorrow I'll be hooking up the gate valve and check valve into the return line,

    Sand gets delivered tomorrow

    RO/DI & salt gets here Wednesday

    What blows my mind is how these stands can hold all that weight. A 90g full plus rock is almost a thousand of pounds

    Sorry JC, don't mean to hijack your thread but was wondering why your drain stand pipe doesn't have a "U". The guy that set my aquarium up put this on the end of my stand pipe, could it be just for less sound? Anyone? DSCN1981.JPG

    I saw this somewhere as well, I forget what they said about it, but I wanna say it had to do with noise. Any extra info in very interested in as well

    There are three 1/2" holes drilled in it. Two on opposite sides and one in the cap on the top. I believe you are correct in that they are for lowering the noise as well but I'll find out and let you know.

    that U as you call it is a durso configuration and yes it is to reduce noise. Also can help keep critters out of the pipe better than just a straight pipe. The holes in it are critical to noise reduction.
