Hi guys, I am new here. I stumbled accross the site searching for ATI Coral + pictures. Anyway, awesome tank john and nice bulb combo. SInce your running something similiar to me I was going to ask a question. :)

I have an aquatinics TX5 5 bulb fixture. Before the coral + bulbs i was running 2xBlue +, 1 purple + and 2x Aquablues. Tank was to white for my liking, and changing out an aquablue for 3x blue + just made it the opposite. Anyway, I ordered 2x Coral + bulbs to replace my Aquablues.

SO my combo was : Blue+, Purple +, Coral+, Blue+, Coral +. This looked pretty good but i thought it was to pink, as the coral + have red in them already and along with the purple + was just to much.

SO then i tried this combo., I pulled a blue_ put and swapped it for an actinic thinking it wouldnt be as a direct blue with the actinic.

    Coral+
    Blue+
    Aquablue Sp
    UVL Atinic 03
    Coral+

This combo i think really looks great, the added Actinic is defintatly noticeable in the greens from when it was swapped with the blue+ Much more vivid.

SO now down to the question.... If you had a 5 bulb fixture what other bulb do you think you would run along with your current combo?? :)

I dont have an another coral + on hand but I am thinking of trying to swap out the aquablue sp with a 3rd coral+, or possibly leaving the aquablue and swapping out the actinic 03. I personally think adding a 3rd coral + and having a blue+ and actinic would be a great 5 bulb combo. Only downside I see is losing the par from the actinic. Or just run 3 coral + and 2 blue+ thats the other option. But your right, 2 Coral + and 2 blue+ was pretty blue and your post made me pull out one of my blues! The coral+ at least for me has plenty of blue in it.

    Any suggestions or thoughts?

    Thanks!!

I would swap out the ABS for a CP. You will gain PAR changing out the actinic for any other color of bulb. Actinics have the lowest PAR by far of all T5HO bulbs. I am running all CP now and would say run 4 CP and an actinic or all CP if you want more PAR.

Thanks, I must of missed your post when you switched over to all 4 CP.

I may try swapping out the ABS, for another CP so i have 3 Coral +,a Blue+ and Actinic. Just not sure how bright it will be. I don't like staring into an all blue tank, same goes for all white :)

With your 4 Coral + running how do you like the color being you have no additional blue bulbs in there, compared to what you were running before?

    Thank's much.

The tank is a very comfortable color to look at, not too blue and not too bright. It has a hint of pink and blue to it. Very easy on the eyes compared to tanks with just 1 ABS in it.
