I found using the substrate from the pot they come in helps a lot. Remove small chunks and then plant.

Thanks, I have about 20 Rasbora heteromorpha and espei, 4 Corydoras, 1 Darter Tetra, several Otocinclus, 2 Ancistrus, 1 Cheatostoma catfish, 3 Mountain Minnows and 3 Siamese Algae Eaters.

Nice looking tank, good work I see some pearling on those leaves! Do you use CO2 or any ferts?

    Thanks

Yes I use pressurized CO2 and dry ferts mixed into liquid form.

Well I trimmed the plants in the center of the tank so they don't have all of the bad leaves and stems on them from bad fert management.

Ludwigia glandulosa, it is the red leaved plant

Red Nesaea supposedly difficult to keep long term so I will see how this goes

    Rotala macrandra
    [IMG]

Rotala nanjenshan, it is the fine leaved plant

FTS, many of the plants in back were trimmed after the 4-14 shot, so you will see a lot of growth already.

I really don't know how you keep up with all the growth. It seems like this tank and your reef tank would be a full time job to keep up with, but you make it look easy :)

Not all that bad really I spend about 2.5 hours a week on the planted tank and about 1.5 hours on the reef. Most processes on the reef are automated now and I have developed a good routine with the planted tank.

New pics of the tank. The bunch of plants in the middle will not be staying.

Wow that tank is insane! It literally looks like an underwater jungle John. I definitely need to get my dosing down on my planted tank. Very impressive!
