ok so i fragged my first coral and it was my leather one. i did it about ten minutes ago. the frag i got was about the size of a pencil eraser. is it normal to get a frag that size? i did it while the thing was contracted not all the way out. Did i do alright? im kinda worried but many people said it was nearly impossible to kill this guy. how long will it take for the mother one to extend all the way. thanks in advance.

That seems like a very small piece, usually with leather you can cut it half and get two piece or cut a lobe off and get a nice sized piece. With that small of a piece, the frag may not make it. However, leathers are generally pretty hardy so who knows. Was there any particular reason you only cut off that small of a piece?

Here is a picture of one of the leathers I fragged(bottom right hand side). I took a pair of scissors and cut a piece off. Then I took a rubberband and put it around it(not to tight) to hold it on. A week later it had took hold of the rock and that is pretty much it. It can be tempermental at times but will reattach fairly easily. The mother coral took a few days to get over being mad.

If you cant get it to stay try getting some bridal veil from your local wal-mart and put it over the frag and around a rock. That should hopefully hold it in place until it takes hold.

It should be fine. I fragged a bunch of peices that size a few months ago and they wouldnt stay on the plugs. Im now finding them living happily attached to the bottom of my frag tank.
