So yesterday I was feeding the tank and after I threw the pellets in there I layed there and watched tv. It's a damn good thing I didn't leave the room because not even 30 seconds after I fed them I saw a flash of yellow out of the corner of my eye. My damn anthias decided to go all great white and jumped clear out of my tank and found him just laying on my carpet. Luckily I scooped him up and threw him in the tank he is fine I was the scared one lol! First time I have ever had a fish jump out on me now I'm kind of scared.

Glad you were right there! Do you have a cover on the tank?

    more like kiss the floor

i use to have a diamond goby who would jump (though never to his death) when the lights went off entirely and the room was pitch black.

i dont know to this day if he did this because he was scared, lost, or just plain stupid. if you had just fed your system im assuming you had some light intensity in the tank correct?

Na I don't have a cover I don't like them. But lets hope I won't need to put one on :/. And yes my lights were on but had been on for awhile when he jumped

Don't take this the wrong way, but it is obvious you should have the tank covered. Even fish that aren't known jumpers can carpet surf. I suggest making your own out of window screen frame and clear mesh. They actually don't look half bad when done right. Better than the alternative IMO.

Hard to have a cover on when you have a hang on skimmer and a overflow that hangs off the back. I can't say it won't ever happen again but it's the first time in almost 2 years that I have had a fish jump.
