    Right now on my 5.5gal I have a 18watt 50/50pc and a 26watt 6500kpc. I also have a 40watt 6500k bulb. I was wondering if I just used the 6500k bulb would I be ok?

it will work, but your tank will look really green and yellow. you should get some good growth with it, and you mite have to watch for algea growth. algea grow better the lower k you go.

I would go with a bulb coloration of atleast 10000k as you will get more of the spectrum. And yes, A 6500k bulb will seem rather gloomy with a green color to your tank and microalgae will feast on that coloration in your bulb IMO!

I ran 6500K bulbs for a couple of year and know many people that still run 6500K they are a good bulb for corals. the Higher K bulbs are more appealing to the eye for most but it would take some serious convincing to make me think high K bulbs are better for corals.

I am not worried about the look. Right now it is just housing my zoos until I get my 75 up to speed.
