I'm sure it's the same with many hobbies. The saltwater/reef learning curve seems steep at times and bumps in the road come quick and the panic sets in and since its the beginning you (or at least I) wonder if it's worth it, should you (I...again) just cut your losses and move on. Well I've finally got the 40 breeder that I've wanted. It's all setup and scaped with new rock and old from my 29 FOWLR. I'm waiting on my light, but it should be here tomorrow. In the meantime I hung an R2 solutions moonlight over and my mouth dropped. It was amazing.

So like the thread title says...

Thank you to all my fellow 3reefers. Everyone here is a source of information, inspiration, and motivation to continue.

Wow, glad we could be helpful. But remember, it is what 3reef is here for. Just pass on the info/wisdom that you have learned to any newcomers. :)

I can say I have sure learned a LOT in the 1.5 years I have been a member of this forum.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Even for some that have been at this for a long time the wealth of knowledge found on 3reef is in valuable. Subjects arise all the time regarding care of what was once thought to very difficult to keep fish/inverts and corals. Here you do not have to wade through a bunch negativity and egos to get quality information.

    Thanks 3reef. :)

I am happy to help anyway that I can. I dove into this hobby because my wife has always had an interest and love of marine life. Due to my newly acquired free time (lay offs), and hating the 4+ hour drive to Atlanta's Aquarium every 3 months so she could get her fix, I sought help. I landed here at 3reef, and this was the place for me. Like stated earlier, for the most part, everyone is helpful and courteous while attempting to do so. Unlike other places of informative banter, you rarely see heated arguments or bashing. We are all here to help spread this addiction. Yes, I am now an addict. :)

I am fairly new to the technical and chemical side of reef keeping and while my tank is lifeless outside of hitchhikers and a small CuC, I give a lot of credit to 3reef for being pointed in the right direction. The inhabitants of my tank and I thank you :)

    +1.. I couldn't agree more.

One big problem I found with using Google to research is that, for nearly every facet of the hobby, one can find articles claiming "scientific evidence" to support both extremes. I've come to the conclusion that who the said "scientist" works for may have some influence on their test results. Here at 3Reef, you can learn what has worked for extensive periods for advanced hobbyists by asking questions or just surfing the forums.

    Thank you!
