    Hello!
We just got our first saltwater tank and we are having fun with it! It is a 75 Gallon tank. We found it off of Craig's list. It had almost everything that we needed for it mechanically. Wish it would have had the live rock slat and fish but so be it, we had to start somewhere right? It had been sitting for 3 years and the guy just needed it out of his garage. A $4000+ set up for $350. We lucked out. I have had freshwater tanks all my life and have a 150gal and a 90 gal right now but thought it was time to dip into the salt with both feet! After some help from a great friend who is into saltwater tanks we are up and running and have been for about 3-4 weeks. I have 5 different corals (don't ask me to name them), 1 maroon clown, 1 percula clown (both of them doing fine and really like each other), 2 cleaner shrimp, 5-7 hermit crabs, snails and I think a whole bunch of snail eggs! We are having fun but still need a lot of help learning! I hope everyone is ready for questions cause as time goes by I/we will be asking them!! Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. ::)

Welcome to 3reef! you might actually want to learn the names of your corals, since you will need to know what they need to thrive.... did you cycle your tank? 3-4 weeks is kinda early for corals. What do you test for?

Dude I would have totally switch the 150 or 90 for the 75. A 150g would allow you more space and less trouble in the long run I think. I'v got a 75g and I'm kind of hurting for space. Not to mention that perams can quickly become a little high, requiring a trip to the LFs or 3reef for Q&A. But that's just me. Bigger is always better. Get some pictures up in the Show Off Your Tank section so we can OOooo and AAAAHhhhhhh!

this system is a 75 acrylic, dual 175 mh with 2x 65 watt actinic. Lifereef filter system. It's pretty nice. (the skimmer started skimming as soon as it got plugged in after being down for 3 years.)

I know I have 2 mushrooms, a red and a blue. I also have the feather finger thing and 2 items that daniel072 gave me. I also have a green tree like thing. I was told what they are and what they like at the LFS but I can't remember the names. I am going off of what daniel072 tells me I can and can't do. I have tested my ammonia, nitite, nitate, ph, speific gravity but not on a refractometer just a hydrometer. Yes I was told I should have dont the 150 but this set up was too good to pass up and I do love my freshwater tanks. When I win the powerball I will switch but for now we will work with what we have!
