    You have great points, but you would be surprised what corals can handle. They are not as delicate as you may think they are. Luna

    I turn off my pumps, take from the DT, turn on my pumps and add to the sump.

    One caveat, every say...3-4 mos. some of us drain (or nearly) the sump and clean out any crud that is in it.

    I did that yesterday, instead of physically removing everything to clean it out I used a small pump with hose attached to suck up all the water from the sump. It worked very well and I didn't have to move the sump at all.

    This is exactly how I do it... My sump by the way seems to be another breeding ground for pods... So I never cleaned mine. I threw in a bunch of rock rubble in the sump as well as in my fuge...
