Im about to hook up my reactor thats been sitting inactive with tank water in it. Should i flush this out or will it be safe to pump into the tank. Its a first time install but did some experimenting with a 5 gal bucket of tank water. Will this water cause a spike in any parameters?

How many gallons do you have total?

I don't think any stagnant water in the rector will give you nay issues, but to be safe, you might want to drain that, and put fresh SW in it.

If it's been sitting for a long time (more than I dunno a week maybe) I would get rid of it and not risk it. A couple gallons of SW is not worth the risk, no matter how minimal the risk is, IMO. The thing I would be concerned about is something nasty like hydrogen sulfide developing since it may have become anoxic (hypoxic? not sure of the exact correct term for low/no oxygen levels :) ). I'm not sure how long it takes to develop though, just something to keep in mind.

Ty i really appreciate the perspective. I actually just set it up as is and let the first quart or so fill a soda bottle and discarded it. Truth is im running very low on water in my sump cuz my RO unit is sidelined with depleted TFC and DI cartridges. Anyway the tank really appears to be doing great after 24 hours with the reactor on. Effluent = 1.5 pr hour and CO2 = 35 bubbles pr/min. Coraline algae has its pigmentation back, corals opening up completely. Looks like PH probe to my controller and Salifert Alk test wont be here til Sat. so I should probably manually test PH and Alk tomorrow to see if things are going south on me.
