Just an idea for 3reef

I don't know how everyone judges karma and all that jazz but when I get advice from someone on here I first look to see who it is and if they have given me good advice in the past. If I don't know the person, I look at their karma and posts to see how reputable they are and go from there. So here's my idea for an addition: on the left side where your karma, posts, and all that other info is, how about a karma to post ratio, or KP for short. I give out karma to those that give me helpful advice when I need it and I look to see if someone is getting a fair amount of it compared to how many posts they have. Basically if they have a lot of karma to posts, then I know they are generally good, if that makes sense to you. Now I'm not saying that people with a low karma to post ratio don't know what they're talking about, this is just an idea I had and wanted to know what others think or if I'm just crazy.

 

Not sure this would work. Too many variables. a person who welcomes new memebrs or responds to a nice tank on a tank build would lower karma to post ratio. It would also go lower if you responded "thanks" to anybody who gave you a nice comment on a build thread. Just my $.02

 

Couldn't you just divide total karma by the post count to get your karma per post or am i missing something? I personally would like to see a mouse over for the karma to see how many times someone added karma to users instead of the total amount accumulated.

Yeah, I thought about this too. There are a lot of variables to deal with.

That's what I'm talking about, just have that already listed on the side so you don't have to do it. The mouse over thing is a good idea too, didn't think of that.

 

not an accurate way to judge on the person commenting on a thread really.
many have earned the karma through the karma showers when supporting 3reef financially. dosent mean that person has more knowledge than one with lower karma.

 

I realize that as well. I don't base the quality of advice I get solely on karma.

I'm pretty sure you can see posts per day in your user CP and on others profiles.
