Xenia prefers moderate current and intense lighting but will thrive under less than optimal conditions, though high water temperatures and nutrient poor water are not favorable for them.
Under ideal conditions they will spread and grow like weeds!

what kind of lighting od you have? they can do moderate to high lighting and low to moderate current, i have mine where there is BARELY any current, some people have them in strong current, these things will start growing like weed once it likes its environment.. put it in low flow first see how it reacts, if it does not pulse and do well move it to a spot where is there is moderate current, just play around.. but let it adapt to moderate lighting with low current first and go from there..
usually when i acquire a new piece of coral, i sit it on the sand first then gradually move it up if it's a coral that requires moderate to high lighting, in this way, you can let it adapt to light

moderate lighting is best as with most soft corals, to intense and it will literally burn the corals to death
xenia can and will thrive in pretty much any flow conditions but they will always grow towards the flow, and yeah they can and will literally grow like weeds, you can add a small amount of iodine every now and again and it'll keep them growing very fast

I have 4x24 watt T5HO - and pretty strong current. I've had mine a couple months now - and dang, they're growing. About 20 new polyps, from the looks of it.
