My clowns twitch at each other several times a day, maybe even hourly. it's just what they do. They really really start twitching when the lights start shutting off in the evening, or when I do a water change.

Every clown I see is a little pig. Mine stuff themselves. You should see two fat, happy clowns after your pH gets up a bit.

With the hydrometer (swinging plastic thing) take it to an LFS and test their water with it. It's luck of the draw with hydros, some are spot on accurate, some are off by 0.01 give or take, and some are just plain crazy.

hmm... still really no change... i see them out a little more now but they seem shy when i come near and hide in their little live rock again... hopefully they'll be better in an hour or two...

the LFS did say that my salinity was ok, so maybe my hydrometer is measuring it ok.. (hopefully)

no, when you add LIVE corals, your tanks water's pH needs to be raised, or lowered, but optimal is 8.4 :) Fish only tank's pH's can be anywhere from 7.9-8.4 and they're cool with it.
