I just got a good deal on a used Aqua C Urchin pro with a mag 3.

After cleverly getting it in to my little sump I got it going. So its only been going for a few hours but I am wondering a couple of things:

    1. Micro bubbles galore, gazillions in my tank, anything to help bc if it stays like this it will be beyond unbearable.

    2. where should I put my cup to start off?

    3. What should happen? Never had one, so what should I see occur? Assuming bubbles getting made that flow up to the cup?

    4. I have really no foam, developing to even go up to the cup, i gather this is normal for a bit?

55g with a lion and a damsel fish and lots of inverts.

    Ty,
    Ser

Skimmers can take awhile before they actually start producing skimmate (could be a week or more, could be a day). The microbubbles should go away at that time.

yes skimmers generaly need a "break in " period after this the bubbles should receed and a good dry skimate should resault. however you may need to do some fine adjustments to get the correct usage out of it for your aquarium. :)

Not familiar with that model but if the return is near your main pump try turning it away or divert the water with a type of baffle. Idea is give the bubbles time to surface before they get to the pump.

Most skimmers work the same but you want the foam to build up to the cup so that it is pushing out a "dry mud" that you'll clean out weekly or so. The mud more or less accumulates and always looks like foam excepte on the collection cup.

well the micro bubbles looked to have killed a porite. :(

Still not collecting anything, but the bubbles are gone. Foam looks to be only have way up the cup spout.

Still not sure where to put my cup height, high or low to break in?

well if your foam isnt reaching the cup where its at bring it down a bit, as stated before once it runs a bit you will be able to fine tune it better.
