I a run 6000k lamp and when I swap lamps this winter I plan on having two. They CRANK out PAR, are typically cheaper and with the little red in the spectrum it tends to offset the heavier blue lamps.

Spectrums aren't always the culprit, NUTRIENTS are!!!

People need to stop blaming algae on lamps and start doing W/Cs and feeding less!!

so I have changed out all of my bulbs to geismann bulbs. I love the way it looks now. I mixed in a pure Actinic with 2 blue+, and 5 aqua blue+. But since I am still cycling and have no coral I left the outside 4 bulbs off whenever the fixture is on. This is OK right?

Jaygalindo - the bulb combo sounds awesome - I got 2 x Power Chrome - Actinic plus 22K Giesseman lamps at weekend and they are excellent

if you are still cycling and have no corals, only running 4 lamps is a good idea

Got my Diatom bloom a couple of days ago!!! I pumped because this means that the cycling is moving on. In a couple of days when the tank is clean again I will start adding some hardy coral and start running the full fixture.

What do you guys do at night for lighting? Completly off? What about lunar's are they worth it?
