so i just installed my 150watt K-2 Viper on my 14 gal biocube. I have to say the tank mounting bracket, tank mounting screws, and tank mounting spacer are tricky to attach to the back of the biocube. After fiddling around with the different variations of how the "spacer" works, and attaching the tank mounting bracket on backwards at first, which actually felt more secure than the "right way", i am amazed at the light it puts out! It feels pretty secure, i just have crazy thoughts of it falling in the open top aquarium! Yikes! But for now i have one layer of egg crate with 5 layers of vinyl porch screen on the top of that, on top of the tank! I hope it doesn't melt!
But anyways, how should i have the arms adjusted? I mean it is on the tank and above it, but how do go about positioning the light? It seems that it would be best to have as little light as possible shining out the sides onto the floor or walls! Does it sound like im on the right track?
    :-/

Edit: Not the same model, but a viper clip none the less. Hopefully gives you ideas.

Yeah....I know exactly what issue that light brings. If you can believe this, I was going to put it on my Pico 3g until I saw it in person, and how big it actually was. I guess my question was exactly what issue are YOU having??? From what I could tell at the store, there were 3 arms...Can you use just 2??

One thing that may help disperse the light a bit from not hitting the sides out of the tank, tilt it back so the light faces at a slight angle to the back of the tank... I did that with mine so I dont get blinded when I come up to see the fish.

ah ha. thanks redGambit. i will do that, cuz yeah when i sit in front of the tank i get kinda blinded. Ha ha. Robman, i think no matter how i position the lights they are still going to shed some light around the room. I just want to focus as much light in the tank as possible.

Yeah..I dont think you can eliminate all the excess light without a canopy of some sort. I will be following this as you remove screens. I am excited to see what I passed on. I think it would have cooked my 3 gal even though I was looking at the 70w model!
