In my experience, Most skimmers will usually stop skimming for a few hours after you put food in the water, or put your arm in the tank, etc... It should start up again.

By "water level" do you mean the top of the bubble column?

If yes, then I keep mine about 1.5" below the TOP of the skimmer cup collection neck.

The water level in the sump itself is roughly 1" above the initial "step in" of acrylic to where it becomes more tapered and thinner.

    Hope this helps!

    Its a great skimmer IMO.

If the red line is where your bubbles mostly "Stop" in the waste neck then you can turn your gate valve clockwise to raise the level. Only move it a degree or two at a time - a small change in the valve gives a big change in bubble level. See if you can get it so that most of the bubble head stops about 1.5" below to top of the waste neck. So you will want to increase your bubble level by about 4-6" it seems.

Right now you are set up to skim Super dry - might be what you want but I prefer a skimmate that looks like a dark beer and not motor oil. Bringing your bubble level up a bit will help you to skim a bit more.

I have the exact skimmer. Took a lil bit to get it dialed in. But like the previous post. A small turn does alot i have my water level about half way up the neck. then foams up the rest. I had to make a stand for my skimmerf

What size tank is everyone running it on. Most of the revews you will find will be for the older model with the riser tube, nw pump, and not the cone shaped. Good luck with the skimmer. I usually raise the water level when the neck gets all slimy.
