no it's not real, but what's wrong with shooting the guy. he asked for it. that's what's wrong today, just slap them on the hand and let them go. if you don't want shot don't steal, it's that simple. if more people got shot there would be a little less stealing and things going on. we need some hard justice in this country. i don't have to worry about the consequences bc i can behave myself. the more liberal we get the worse are country gets. here in arkansas just yesterday i man got life in prison for beating and killing a tv news anchor. he didn't get the death penalty because it's inhumane. try telling her family how humane it was when he was killing their daughter. what kind of society have we developed. instead my tax dollars are gonna feed and clothe this bum for the rest of his life. at least back in the day they made the prisoners get out and work.

Don't get my wrong, I am a 100% advocate of deadly force in life threatening situations. Having a knife pulled on you is a life threatening situation, and a deadly response would most likely be considered "justified" in most jurisdictions.

    However ...

The crux of this anecdote did not focus on a justifiable use of deadly force, but instead on the use of armed robbery, vandalism, and fraud to exact revenge against an assailant. I find this wrong on many levels, spiritually, and with any sense of "truth" and "justice".

"An armed society is a polite society", not a vindictive one.

I got this a while ago. Sounds like something I would post to craigslist.
FWIW, Kimber is the only gun I carry! I have a TLE II, and I am restoring my old service model to it's original glory for carry. Just a little snagged up right now finding someone to pop out the front sight for me. The tool to do it is nearly $600, I can't justify that for a one time use! :)

As an "armed citizen" myself...if this were true, which i highly doubt...then in my opinion he should lose his permit because its guys like this that give everyone with a CWP (concealed weapons permit) a bad image.

He obviously has some serious anger issues that really bring his judgement into question... I'm sure its not true though

The only thing he needed to do was let him run away (because im sure thats what would have happened if it were real) and then call the cops to let them know what happened and that he drew his firearm.

nice gun though ;D but i like my glock better:-X

    Assuming this were real....

IMO he was totally in the right to draw. I would have too.

IMO, especially as anti gun as NY is, he (I) would be facing some questioning if he immediately fired without knowing more about the situation. You cant just shoot someone for pulling a knife on you without getting you yourself into trouble.

As my instructor put it though- alot depends on your ability to communicate how things went down...with your lawyer there of course...

And i completely agree with you wiigelec BTW

False! Pulling ANY weapon for a robbery, assault, anything, FEDERALLY gives you full rights to use lethal force. Assailants do not even have to be armed. IE, if you're approached by a group of unarmed assailants (say for a mugging or whatever), you can use lethal force do to the fact that you were outnumbered. In ANY situation that you can say your safety or the safety of someone in your party was compromised in a way that could cause death, harm, or serious injury, you can draw and fire. It's that simple. Of course I emphasized "federally" because that is the federal law. In some states, you may have stricter laws. Out here in the wild west we don't ;) Here in Nevada, we even have the Castle Laws. I can shoot you for being in my place of residence (whether it be home, apartment, camp site, hotel room, etc) without permission. And that's it. You don't have to be armed, or even robbing the place. You come into my home without permission I can end you. It's that simple. Federal laws are really loose on how you protect yourself.
We tend to have a lot less crime in these parts ;) Heck up until the end of this year, you were allowed to chase said assailant for a distance of 26 miles in order to shoot them.

I can say if someone pulled a knife on me in a dark alley they would not have the chance to turn and run.

If i didnt say in NY Forgive me....

We have a different set of rules out here cowboy. I would have a whole lot of legal fees if I didnt clearly communicate a lethal threat.

We also have no castle doctrine - well, we have a half ass one. A guy recently shot someone breaking into his house and went to prison because a) he wasnt all the way into the house yet and b) he didnt demonstrate his intent to commit a second crime. Our castle doctrine basically says there needs to be two crimes, the first is the breaking in... there needs to be a second. If he picks up a tv and starts walking out of the house...bang, thats a second felony.

Too many freaking liberals and lawyers in my state bro
