I hate selling stuff on craigslist, We have 2 complete aquarium set up for sale........a 72g bowfront and a 75g aga set up. So I also placed it on a local saltwater group. People amaze me. I understand the need to barter and try to get the best deal.......but really, offer $1.00 per gallon for the complete set up and then be upset when i dont accept it! If it was just the tank......maybe. But really:huh2:. I cant wait to move these things.

So far, i have had a bunch of bad offers.....all of which are under $100.00 and even had 2 scams attempts.

    Just venting! :)

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I tried to sell once on Craigslist, never again. Not even worth it IMO. I ended keeping my tank. Was able to sell off all the live stock and skimmer, everyone wants to piece stuff out of you on Craigslist.

Tucson is the closest Craigslist to me. There is a guy that buys everything up almost immediately so no one has a chance to get it and then he parts it up. It a business he runs out of his garage. No words can describe the disdain I have for this individual.

Thanks for letting me vent too and good luck.

I hear you! The bigger the tank, the more farfetched the offers get lol...

Actually I did put up a 93g on there and had it sold in less thn 12 hours. Guy called me a few hours after it was posted and then started driving down to Pennsylvania from Connecticut! Said my price was worth the drive! So I guess that is one positive translation haha

That's why I don't want to sell stuff on Craigslist :p You can tell them that you have a set price.

Anemone is right,it's a load of crap.

The sellers want to make money, the buyers are looking for a deal and the economy isn't helping either.

Being a budget reefer,i've bought and sold tanks and other things for years to help support my hobby, though not so much now-a-days as things are moving slow now (again, thanks to the economy).

But yeah, unfortunately, you have to weed your way through 20 "low ballers" and scammer/spammers before that one good buyer comes along.I've had great luck on craigs, but it takes persistance, patience and being firm in your pricing along with well placed wording in your ad.

well the worst part was about a couple months ago when i had an offer for my 72g. I accepted it and then immediatiately got a couple more offers for even more money. I was being fair and told them that it was already sold...... well after 2 weeks I was presented with a major scam. Luckily figured it out prior to loosing anything other than the lost sales. See I am an honest person and the thought of a scam never entered into my mind!

Cheryl as much as I hate that guy, tell him to come to St Louis and buy my tanks! The bowfront doesnt matter to me that much if I sell. But due to my mothers health, we had to take down her tank and I really want to sell it for her!

ok well..........apparently if you want to sell something, get on here and complain and then it will be sold. I just reposted it on craigslist tonight about an hour ago. Someone actually wants to pick it up tomorrow and did not even ask to go down on price!!!! We will see what happens!

Stll have the bowfront......but havent reposted that one for a couple weeks!

I love craigslist! It's nit the best place for a seller but for a buyer oh heck ya. I do all my guitar biz on craigslist. Started off with a cheap bc rich when I was twelve and over the years hav traded and negotiated up to a Jeff loomis 7 string. Only one if my many guitars but you get the point. I've done the same thing with tanks. Once traded a gut a 10 gallon reef for a total 55 gallon setup with halides. It's nit a website, it's a miracle worker. Ha ha
