I've read up on the Octopus BH 100F and read two reviews that said they liked it but I figured if it was so great that there would be more reviews and comments on how well it works. I'm willing to spend up to 200 dollars on one as of right now and sometime down the road I may get a larger tank (55 gallons or so). Anyways, any help on which I should get would be much appreciated. Thanks!

How often do you need to dispose the waste cup? I read one review of the octopus 100f and he said he needed to throw away the waste 2-3 times a day.

depends on Bioload - and on how wet you skim to a degree

wet skimming means more water along with skimmate and thus more frequently filled cup
dry skimming has less water in ratio to skimmate and thus less frequent emptying of cup

emptying 3 times a day sounds to much to me

so as far as you guys are concerned I can't go wrong with the Octopus 1000? I'm kind of hesitant because I'm very new at this and places I've checked there have only been one or two reviews on it. I would have thought there would be hundreds of reviews on products considering how many people on this forum there are! Help!

Bak Pak2 - be sure to get the one with the Accela ph. Much quieter than the MJ1200 & it creates a TON of bubbles. Been running mine for years.

the quieter the skimmer does that generally mean that it will be less effective? I read some reviews on the bak pak 2 and the first "Con" they had on it was that it's very loud. Is the BH 1000 loud? What's the quietest skimmer you can get? Thanks guy!
