Well people i got back from vacation (south carolina) and installed my new vortech. Dead quiet and what a beast, took me 2 minutes to hook up...maybe i got lucky? Its really nice, hope it turns out to be dependable in the long run. Oh btw, if anyone decides to visit S. Carolina I wouldnt bother going to the aquarium there....not a single living coral. Very lacking if u ask me.

Yeah just got one, more than enuf..with the controller. I got it turned up to barely a 1/3rd of its full power and the undertow moves the sand with it being about a foot up the tank. Ill try to post pics 2morrow before i go to work. I got the vortech, a tunze 6025 & 6045 with the return (425gph) as water movement. I should be good....at least until i get the 300 gallon. lol

Sounds good. I had a Tunze Turbelle in a 20 long so I know the feeling. ;)

    quiet? waves?

Good to hear that it's quiet and was easy to hook up. Did you hear that it was loud or difficult to set up from somewhere else?

How big are the surface waves that it makes? Thanks in advance.

A very dependable pump and will move some serious water . As you said simple to hook up plug in the control module then the pumps jack and adjust flow speed for the pump and its good to go. Ours at the shop have been through the winger and still running like a Rolex . Pricey but good I have one on a 200 and it will blast the sand on the far end on high tank is 7 ft long

Oh FYI I wanted to add never ever ever allow the two magnet halfs to ever connect with each other with out a 1/2 inch of somthing inbetween them we had to send a set back to get apart . The partime guy was cleaning them and they connected . I had that to happen once with a set of Magnavours 10 cleaning magnets .

Tangster, thanks for your post. How loud is the motor on the outside of the tank? I know loudness is subjective ;) but maybe you can compare it to something else etc.

Also, I'm consider putting one of these in a standard 55 gallon (four feet) tank, but I'd rather not have waves greater than an inch high or so on the surface. Is it possible to set it at its lowest flowrate and still get the various modes (lagoon, reef crest etc.), or if I set it to reef crest, will it actually vary up to its highest flowrate (2000 gph!)?

    Thanks again.

im going to be putting 2 into a 1.200 x .750 x .600 tank and still run 2 OR3500 on closed loop flushing from the bottom beneath the rockwork.. added the vortech's for random flow.. will start a thread on the tank soon..
