I thought that since I became immediately addicted to this site I should at least introduce myself.

My name is Andy, and im addicted to aquariums...and pets, and airplanes, and golf,skiing,gunstrucksanythingthaticantafford...

Anyway, I have a 120 gal that I just recently moved home from my office. It was lacking attention and is plenty full of aiptasia. In 3 weeks it has gotten better. Corals which I had passed for LR are coming back to life, even through the thick hair algae (never use well water for you tanks). I am running one MDQ4...something through an older CPR sump w/skimmer. I have a 48" PFO shimmer hood (2x13000k MH and 2x 96W PC) roughly 8" off the surface.

Inhabitants, that made the move, are: Black and white damsel, Fiji damsel, 4 year old Maroon Clown, 3 year old Yellow Tang, 2 year old watchman goby (sans pistol shrimp partner), Long spine urchin, 2 sand stars, Lawnmower Blenny, Arrow crab (new), countless snails and crabs. The corals that made the move are only polyps and some branching porites on a comeback. Also a Torch coral of some sort that is gaining ground daily. In a few months this will get expensive...I hate addictions.

;) Welcome to the site Andy!!! This is a pretty cool place, much better than most of the others out there. Everybody's friendly, and they all know their stuff.

    Happy reefing,

Welcome! You have the addictive personality requied to be successful in this hobby for sure!

Unfortunately Peppermint shrimp are a real hit and miss proposition, and it sounds like you're at the miss part. My Peppermint shrimp, long since returned to the LFS, loved my BTA - to eat, and ignored the fearsome Aiptasia! I use a 50% - 50% mixture of Muriatic Acid and hot water and inject them. It nukes them sufficiently not to return.
