I just moved my tank and it was sent through a cycle.. I have orange algea growing all over the place..

What can i do to ride this out as fast as possible and get it back on track.. I have lots of corals that are not handling the change very well.

orange algae - I think you could mean diatoms which occured as a result of the new tank/ new silicates

I take it your using rock/ equipment from old tank? as thats going to speed up the mini cycle

did you move your old sand bed to the new tank?

short term solutions - blast your corals with a turkey baster or use a small power head to clean them (things like GSP for example can at times go AWOL due to diatoms covering the pores)

also try out Sea Chems Purigen - when I switched over my tank my diatoms where mild (new tank and new sand bed) and lasted less than 2 weeks and my parameters stayed in check

its a resin that absorbs Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate
its a fine powder/ spheres that you need to put in a fine mesh bag and add to any power filter you have

it gets darker showing it has absorbed any impurities

check out the Sea Chem web site for more information -

its a very good product and it does what is says it does IME
