    Hi Birdlady,

I am thinking about using M/E salt and wanted to know if you are still using it and what your findings are?

Also, this is my first post. ;D

Hello and Welcome to 3 Reef! Honestly, yes I am still using it. All my critters are healthy, but I find the salt with the little bottle of liquid are a bit of a hassle. I have tried mixing it into a 5 gallon bucket, but it formed a sediment that I could not get to clear up.

I am considering switching simply for ease of mixing. :) I am also haing difficulty maintaining my alk, but I feel that is from the ro/di water and will have that problem anyway. ;D

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

The little bottle and using part of a bag does sound like a pain, that is why I may go with the Bio-Sea by the same company.

Are you using kalkwasser? That will cause Alk. problems.

I do use Kalk, and as far as I know, it is a balanced additive. Raises alk and calcium. I know it is the ro/di water, and I have not found the magic amount of the 'reconstitution' powder that is supposed to restore the buffer. I will figure it out eventually! LOL!

I had alk issues when I was using liquid calcium and turbo calcium as well. It is better now that I have a kalk reactor, just not where I want it to be :)

So really my only issue with the ME2 is the little bottle. My tank is only a 58 and I don't need a whole bag of salt at one time. ;)
