    Hey P2B -
You should be able to find pvc supplies at any nice hardware store. I was just at Orchard Supply (a chain) and they have all of that stuff. But some of the smaller ones in town do too especially if you are just looking for pipe.

    Great tank! :)

well, it looks to me, as if you've got an oceanic overflow kit. The buldheads look like that. If you do already have the overflow kit, and it really is oceanic, I would suggest you get the allglass kit. The overflow kit of oceanic is VERY loud.
If I recognized the bulkheads wrong, then just forget what I said ;)

Thanks everyone for your input.....I like the idea of a setup journal that I was reading here. I would like to continue that idea and will update my progress as I go along....

    Thanks Again to everyone!

I don't think he has an overflow kit.  But make your own.  For your larger bulkhead, the drain, build a durso like on http://www.rl180reef.com/frames.htm, then click on Durso then build your own.  VERY easy.  Then for your return just plumb a 3/4" pvc all the way up with a 90 (slip x FNPT) then use loc-line for your return.  It looks like to me that is a http://www.glasscages.com aquarium (but I have been wrong before).

If you want a good supply of fittings for cheap and you want to give your money to a Aqua Related company (not HD or Lowes), then go to http://www.aquaticeco.com.

You are absolutely correct Mike.....the tank setup is from glasscages.com and was just picked up at a show this weekend (pretty nice quality tank AND stand). The vendor provided some nice bulkhead fittings for the pre-drilled holes. And as your link may suggest, I could only imagine the sound of the water cascading down 24".

I will take your advice and check out the DYI. My lighting assembly specs are posted in the lighting forum. I will post pictures as I make progress.

Thanks for the help....I think I need it!

P2B in your second pic(showing the overflow holes) is that the bottom of the tank glass made of several pieces of Glass Pieced together?

No Jason....the bottom is a single pane with two hole drilled. The extra pieces you are seeing seem to be used as guides when the sides and overflow were installed and are installed around the entire perimeter of the floor of the tank.

Perhaps they are bracing of some sort although I am unfamiliar with any engineering technique like this.

No problem...thats what we are here for.

Yeah, I can always tell a glasscages tank by that bracing around the bottom. It is a guide that they use on all of their tanks...actually pretty cool.

I will check out your lighting thread...let me know if you need any help with anything.

I figured I would update and post a couple of pics of my progress. As you can see from this photo, I had to paint my living room so the tank would look nice ;)

The cabinet has been stained and sealed with urethane...next step is to install the durso, the return line, and all the plumbing in the sump in the bottom of the cabinet.

Here is a picture of the lights firing up......

I thinks its coming along nicely....! Two months and still not a drop of water. Hows that for taking it slow ;) :p
