I'm looking at the zoas I ordered and it appears to have something hanging on, maybe some algae. It looks stringy and green. Should I just freshwater dip them?

If so how is this process done? I have never considered it until today so I just wanted to make sure nothing made its way into my tank without being clean.

    Thanks!

FW dips are for fish only. Most corals don't do well with big salinity changes. You can perform an iodine dip. I don't recall exactly how this is done, but there's a lot of good information online about it.

I am expecting an order from them today as well. If you have any doubts, snap a quick photo of the items you received so that there is a point of reference.

They have been quite accommodating towards me via email.

I am eager to hear what members here suggest since i have two shipments arriving today and will want to know the same process.

congrats :) be sure to show and tell later once they are settled in!

You can freswater dip zoa's... I got 15 head of whammin watermelons, dipped them in freshwater the same temp as my tank or close too it and they were fully open in a 1/2 hour... Iodine dip is a better method, but I didn't have iodine....

I use TMPCC Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure, it is an iodine based dip and gets rid of flat worms, nudis, bacteria infections. Doesn't do much for parasitic snails though or crustaceans

looks like heliopora to me, it is a soft coral with a hard skeleton, you can confirm that if you break it and the inside is bright blue
