Hey. Im new to 3 reef but have had reef tanks or a couple years. 2 years ago i gave up the hobby because it was getting to expensive and frustrating. But now that i have a job i decided to get back into it. I have a 10 gallon tank right now that has been set up for about 2 months now. I have about 10 lbs of live rock (getting more really soon), 15 lbs of live sand, a light that i bought on ebay for like $50. It has 4 t5 bulbs. 2 daylight and 2 actinic and 2 lunar lights. It puts out 96 watts. I have a fluval 105 canister filter and thats it for filtration. I dont have a protein skimmer because my nitrates, nitrites, phosphates and ammonia reamain at 0. I do have a cheap one just in case it spikes but i dont really use it now because its really bulky and i dont really like it. I have a clownfish, a starry blenny, a cleaner shrimp, and 6 turbo snails. So far for corals i have a torch coral and a ricordea that had a baby and is about to have another one shortly :)

Hello..... Good Morning. I have been in the hobby a little over a year. I started my tank on 1 June 2009. It is a 125 gallon setup. But I recently came across a 210 gallon which will let me do what i want. It will be a reef set up. I started working on it about a month ago. This will probably be a long chronicle. I know what items i want but the big money is probably going to be on the skimmer. Yes my tank will be a little over stocked. I am a retired injured vet so I will be buying items once a month until I have it fully operational. I have pics but will post later because flat out I am tired. I want to say hi to everyone and hopefully I will learn alot along the way. This time I WILL be patient. Hope to get to know everyone soon. Get at your boy.

For those of you joining us that are new to the hobby - the best piece of advice you'll get around here as a saltwater newbie is 3Reef's slogan
    "Go slow, let it grow."
And for those experianced hobbyists joining us - it's still good advice :p
good luck and post pics soon :)
