    or about 1/3rd total volume of tank to be rock work (credit to guitarman for this principle)

    as heavy rock, you would get less in if you just worked on weight and very light porous rock would fill your tank maybe to much

    A hex tank could look awesome if you can find a way to build the rock high in the center,maybe pieces of eggcrate for good support.You then could have low light species neer the bottom,and some that need more at higher places.The legs of many fixtures can easily be modified to give you more options if one doesnt seem right,or a pendant type would work well if you like those.The>availible light the>your coral options.
