Other thing I have to recommend is some U shaped PVC piping, with the ends preferably angled slightly upwards. As you know the peacock lives mostly in sand and will require a burrow, so the PVC will just make it easier and less stressful for him.

If you can try to avoid white, I believe some places sell grey.

I would do a couple 3reef searches on stomatopod care. Also check out Dr. Roy's website on stomatopods, he is probably the leading expert on their care. There are a lot of myths floating around the internet about stomatopods. 10-15 years ago, if someone lost fish, it was usually blamed on a stomatopod, rather than bad care.

Couple more tips I can think of:
    • Introduce a CUC first, if you feed snails and hermits, always introduce in the same spot so he learns
    • Make sure to feed hard shelled foods
    • Keep on top of water quality, they like to store food which will foul up the water
    • They can be adapted to bright lights, just do it slowly (if you wish to keep with coral. mine loved mushrooms and acropora)
    • Try to grow macro algae in the tank, they love this
    • Smash up LR from the size range of just bigger than the sand grains, to about 1/2 the size of your mantis, they LOVE to redecorate and pile stuff up around their burrow/tunnel entrances.
    • While anything alive in the tank is fair game, you will find many who keep their stomatopods with fish, for best results though, avoid fish that hang out in the rock or sand.
    • Always remember, they're smarter than you think ;)
