    Hi!
We're Jackie and Andrew from PA right outside of Philly. Jackie is 24 years old and Andrew is 23. We're starting our life together and bringing our love for animals into it, got a puppy almost 6 months ago. We started a 36 gallon bow-front reef tank about 2-3 weeks ago. We put in roughly 15 lbs of live rock, live sand, and water so far. We spent the money to get a good uv filter and protein skimmer. The tank we have now doesn't allow for a sump, however we will be getting a 55 gallon to hopefully be able to transfer into in a roughly 8 months after we decide if we will be moving or staying where we are. That tank has a stand and wil be able to put things under the tank instead of just around it. I am ecstatic that I found this site to help us get our tank up and running the right way and avoid throwing money away as so many other newbies have.

Hey guys, welcome! Its always nice when both members of a relationship come together in this hobby, I'm thankful my wife is involved if not as passionate as I am lol.

One thing in being where you guys are headed, is that I would caution you to get a 75g or 90g because 55g are frustrating with their dimensions.

Welcome to 3reef and the addiction. I hope you guys enjoy the reads and discussions we have here. DO NOT Hesitate to ask any questions. We try and help to the best of our ability.
I agree with this. My 55g is getting on my nerves right now due to how narrow it is, and I can't place my rock the way I want.

+1,a 75 would be a much nicer tank to work with and the cost for other equipment such as sump, lighting ect. would be about the same. The increased water volume would also make things easier and might allow for an extra fish or two that you would like to have.

Welcome to 3reef! Very cool that you are both involved as others have mentioned. And, I 4th the recommendation to go with either a 75 or 90 instead of a 55 if at all possible. That extra 6" depth makes all of the difference!
