FWIW, a diatom bloom is not guaranteed to happen in a tank. Diatoms seem to thrive off of silicates and if your rock and sand are very clean, you may not have much.
My tank is 10 months old now and I have never seen any sort of diatom bloom at all! I used 100% dry rock and dry sand.
Also, your tank is considered cycled if you are reading 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and have nitrates. Now you want to get rid of those nitrates with some large water changes. In theory, this should take 1 50% water change to get it to 20 ppm nitrates, but it does not always add up this way. After you get those nitrates under 20 ppm you are good to add a SMALL clean up crew. Since you do not seem to have much algae (as I still do not either), add a very light clean up crew so that they do not starve. At this time, I would also consider it safe to add a clownfish (or 2 if you want a mated pair) like you mentioned above.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

    Looks good.

Getting nitrates to between 0-10 ppm is not realistic in a new tank. Be happy if the value stays consistently round 20 while the tank ages, for several months.
I would do a water change and get a small clean up crew. Snails need something to eat so I would not buy more than a couple snails initially.
Throw a tiny pinch of fish food in to feed the hermits and to contribute to your biological filter. The population of nutrifying bacteria is going to wax and wane for months depending on your bio-load and available nutrients, allow the biological filter plenty of time to adjust between additions.

good luck..do the bio action(pick your poison).. it ain't ALL about numbers..per Coraillines post.....Shoot some more photos as it progresses.. : )
    Good job....your doing fine....again..jmo

(for the 5 my yr old). all my parameters are @ 0ppm except nitrates are 10-15ppm. i will keep you posted..thanks reefers.
