not a problem ive used it plenty of times to figure out what stuff is and decided to do the same and help someone else out...if they are other kinds of pods i wouldnt worry too much about it....hows the tank doing, did a cycle happen or anything?

    funny thing....

funny thing ... i havent noticed absoultly any change at all.. ive been monitoring this tank very closley and i havent seen any change.. besides the tiny worm dusters that are on the glass i havent seen worms or anything crawling around.. ive been face planting on that glass for endless hours with a flashlight with a red lens and to my surprise nothing.. i really dont know what to look for but nothing seems to be crawling around besides the hermits...i havent seen any worms or anything.. im wondering if i need to magnify or maybe there so small i just cant see anything with the naked eye.. i got all this sand from 10 ft of water with no rock structures near i looked for the flatest most barren area and took it from there..........there hasent been a diatom bloom in the tank or and color change in the sand... should something be happening or is it to soon.. maybe since i got the sand from the ocean floor there might not be any cycle? hmmmm strange huh?

well the no diatom bloom is no surprise since diatoms feed on silicates found in sand used for aquariums and the ocean has not had its sand processed....as long as just the worms and the pods are all you have seen then i think you are pretty good to go...the cycle would happen if the sand was out of water for too long and die off happened but it probably isnt the case at all right now...as for worms not all are bad but like you said they could be too small to see currently and may grow but for the most part it sounds like you lucked out and picked some good sand

i just noticed you are from key west, thats my favorite place to go...my parents have had a timeshare down there for about 10 years at the hyatt right on cow key channel, have you ever caught fish or collected any corals for your tank before?

Oh I believe you on the fishing, we used to rent a boat from this guy craig who used to with at the hyatt but I'm pretty sure he passed....my dad woukd drive the boat and then I would set the rigs and pull in monster shark, grouper, mahi, kings, bonita, you name it...i knot the inshore waters pretty well and some of the flats just off the gulf side near cow key channel...but I hear theres lots of ricordea/zoas in the area and plenty of fish that coils be collected for aquarium use etc
