=Jwin's 9 GALLON MANTIS CUBE - Nano Wave 9

So...the little guy has been shut up inside his den for 3 days now. Well, he came back out today. And HOLY CRAP!!! That thing had a GROWTH SPURT. I would say he's almost 1/4" longer...and he's thicker too...and he's braver. I'm not sure if it's bravery, or hunger. But I gave him a piece of krill and he came fully onto the sand to come get it, and he actually stayed on the tongs for a while before running off with it.

When this guy molts, he molts. The only thing going through my mind when I see him now is "HOLY CRAP he got bigger."

 

It's a girl I'm thinking about naming her Princess. What do you guys think?

No pics yet. She won't hold still long enough. But she sure is exploring alot. I added about 2 pounds of base rock. 1.5 pounds is in the tank...the other bit is all rubble from my mom's aquarium that i stuck in the fuge.

And I bought a baseball sized wad of chaeto that I stuck in the refugium of this thing. Combined with the skimmer and fuge going, the algae I got from cycling is almost totally gone. It's dying now anyways.

 

Your 9gal nano has a fuge? That is pretty awesome.

 

Sure does! I'm using it to grow some chaeto out to put in our bigger tank. When the chaeto expands enough, I'll harvest it and replace the whole bioball area in our sump with it. We'd just have to raise the water level a bit and put a light in, and vuala we have the most ghetto fuge on 3reef.
