Nice look N. Wennerae you got there. K+

It took mine quite a while to get brave enough to swim around the tank. If you are concerned about having a name matching the sex of the mantis it is pretty easy to determine if you can get a clear view of their underside. They have surprisingly large...ermmm...gonopods... for their size. It is between their last set of walking legs, two sticks if they are male, two spots if they are female.

My mantis was actually standing on the side of the tank so I would have a clear view of his underside. I guess he got tired of me trying to look at his under side. lol

He's getting braver. Kind of. He's changed dens about 3 times now, and I think he's finally moved into one he likes. Which is a good one, cause he can use it until he grows to be alot bigger from now, as opposed to his older ones which wouldn't have lasted too long.

How fast do these guys grow to reach their full length?

I gave him a chunk of krill for food today. Just a small piece...which still turned out to be a good size for him. So far so good :)

I'm not really sure how fast they grow. Mine isn't much bigger than yours, still a baby as well. I would guess mine to be 1-1.25"

Your krill must be bigger than mine lol. I pick out the smallest ones from the box.

Eh mine were frozen from Petsmart. I could probably fry them and make popcorn shrimp. Minus the heads and stuff...haha

Right now I'm feeding him mysis and krill every other day. I've only fed him twice, so it's still a work in progress. Brine just seems to be a tad on the small side for my liking.

if anyone knows where to find a nanowave 9 in the Charlotte area, hit me up. I want to get a similar setup, with a similar mantis :). Definitely willing to pay$100+ for the tank. Great deal.

Something that really irks me is, why do factories/companies NOT install some form of cooling on these all in ones? Every single nano wave I've seen or heard about has had the overheating issue. Up to 84 degrees, normally 80-82 like mine was. It just irks me that they don't do something about it, when I sure hope they've done tests on it and such. Maybe I should make a line of all in one kits and they WON'T have heating issues. And they'll have a needlewheel skimmer.

The little shrimp keeps on moving. I have to find him in a new place every day now ::) His damsel buddy is recovered from his minor ich spot on his fin...he's happy and colorful in the Q tank still. Hoping he'll leave the mantis alone when he goes back into the tank.

Right now I've got some minor algae buildup on the back wall of the aquarium. Nothing to cry about, but I'm hoping to get some chaeto for the fuge in the back to help with this. The skimmer's not too fantastic either, so hopefully some fuge action can help with the waste and nutrients as well.
