I've been using Kalk for about 20 years, Coralline is correct, you should let it sit for 24 hrs, at least. I love it, starting using it when I lived in Berlin for 2 years 90-92. It precipitates PO4 quite well. Plus, it's safer than two part supplements. I use kalk, Combi-San, & a little iodine. I swear by this method. I just set-up a JBL 24 nano for a client. SPS dominate, and after only 4 months, he has a self sustaining hobby, he trades his frags for dry/goods and fish. Coralline algae is everywhere. If you don't have a high calcium demand tank (LPS, SPS, clams) test your Ca levels until you get a constant >550ppm, which you probably do. What size is your aquarium? Get a pinpoint ph meter, its worth the 90 bucks. I know I'm a newbie(to this forum), and I'm sorry if I come off as a know it all, I'm not(my wife is over my shoulder, saying this is not true), but I am direct and I know reef-keeping. Hello to all.

I just started a 60 gallon wide grow out. Two thirty gallon sumps, one is a refuge for macro. Reef Octopus Skimmer, DIY Kalk doser, 6 t-5, plus numerous led heads. I have about 10 metal halides sitting in my garage. About 20 lbs of rock, I will have 1 Watchman, no other fish. Most of "my tanks, " belong to other people. Been doing this a long time. But, I always learn something new, almost daily. I just got a new Mac and have not transferred my photos. But will soon! Thanks for the welcome!
