I am considering a move to Kalk as my primary source of calc and alk. My tank is a relativele low/med use tank.

My question is I do not want to purchase any drip systems or mixers as I will be upgrading to a much larger tank down the road which will have a calium reactor. What I want to do is just add it to my top off water which I add almost a gallon a day once a day. Will this throw my PH off too much or can I do it this way without killing everything?

    Appreciate any and all help.

i would not do it that way, kalk is supposed to be added slowly (drip)so you dont spike your PH. kalk has a PH of roughly 12 . it also depends how much is in your topoff ie: 2 cups (dissolved) in a gallon of topoff.start w/small amounts and check PH

My plan was to add very small concentration to a larger amount of water to start. for about 45 gallons of total water volume how much powder per gallon should I add if I will be adding only 1 gallon of top off at a time?
