Hellow 3reef community! Recently i have been reading up on kalkwasser and what it does. I have baasic knowledge on what it does but i do have some questions.

First, can i cycle my tank using kalk with the live rock in their so when i am ready to add fish its all ready?

And if choose to add kalk later on after the cycle is their a certain time in which i can add it or do i just add it slowly to the system?

I have only used Kalkwasser as a supplementation for maintaining Ca and alk when corals are present.

With regard to preparation for fish, kalkwasser need not be administered. The utilization of Ca is not taking place except possibly by coralline algae if present.

There is no benefit from using kalkwasser during a cycle or immediately after the cycle. Your salt mix will provide all the Ca you need and buffer the water as well.

If you have significant swings in pH there are easier ways to address them than with the use of Kalkwasser.

What specific benefits are you looking for from the administration of kalkwasser?

I was reading that doing kalk can benefit your corals and fish. Ive read that kalk has made corals grow plenty fast and brighter than without it. I want the best for my coral and for them to grow healthy and strong, so i was hoping for kalk to do that and stay stable most of the time.

Kalkwasser is a great product, I use it from time to time.

A much easier route is any 2 part/parts A/B. Magnesium is needed to as to balance the Ca and Alk

If you do you use kalk I suggest researching how to use in a drip.

Regardless you do not need it during the initial cycle of a tank by any means.

Can kalk be used with a doser?

As Corailline stated, it's not needed now since you are cycling and there is nothing consuming CA & ALK.

You can use a doser. If you use a BRS doser, make sure the intake tube is not resting on the bottom of the kalkwasser container as you don't want to add the undissolved kalkwasser nor do you want to clog the tubes.

I add kalkwasser with my top off. My litermeter draws from my top off reservoir and into a Precision Marine KalkReactor and into the tank. The downside to this is the amount I add is dependent on evaporation rate which differs throughout the year.
