Quick question, I've been trying to study up on using kalkwasser for my 120 gallon tank that loses about a 1 and 1/2 gallon to evaporation daily. Is it correct that you can/should run all your top-off water through a kalkwasser solution, either through a reactor or pulling from a reservoir? I'm starting to notice my Ca and KH lowering as I am adding more corals and I wanted a more consistent way of replenishing rather than spot treating like I have been. Just wasn't sure if 1 and 1/2 gallons of kalkwasser would be too much per day. Thanks in advance!

I run all my make up water through limewater and I probably put 3g to 6g in a day due to evap from fans. The only time it doesn't go through limewater is if the pH gets above 8.45 I use the controller to shut it down and use my backup float to add water. I just have a rain bird solenoid that opens when the float calls for water and lets RO/DI water from my reservoir feed in the tank.
The only thing I would recommend is having a way to monitor pH in the tank.

depending on what type of corals are added will depend on your consumption rates, the best way to counter them is through a Ca reactor. CaOH2 reactors dont have much of the elements involving the consumption rates but do have a high pH level. all in all both work good hand in hand.just dosing CaOH2 will hinder your tank more than help in the long run.
