    how clear should mixture be before use i have mixed up a 2 teaspoon to 1 gal of ro water and the top never completely clears up. should it have some cloudiness to it.

    It's pretty much completely clear. There will be a krusty film on top and white stuff in the bottom... You don't want any of that krusty stuff to get in the tank. Sometimes it's easier said than done but at least make an effort.

    i have never had any crusty stuff on top and it stays cloudy. i get the build up on the bottom. it is seachem reef kalkwasser. there is no date on the container.

    hmm.. I don't know .. it should all be the same. It's all the same as pickling lime.
    I don't think it would expire though. Are you mixing with RO water?

    yes i am using ro water. i have been using it this way. i make up a batch and it sits for 2 to 3 hrs before i use it. i have had no ill affect on ph.

    I usually let mine sit overnight .. Try that and it should be clear the next day.

    i will give that a try thanks for your help.

    btw i have an email that is av-8bharriermech most people can gather the i am in the USMC and a harrier mechanic.

    Most people will only use ONE tsp per gallon unless using acetic acid to further break down the kalk.... That could be why it is still cloudy...

    Is the container covered/airsealed?

    I agree with Dr. Fragstein...you may be mixing too much kalk. with RO H20. I Use about 1/16 of a cup of distilled vinegar (helps dissolve kalk.) and 1 tsp. of Mrs. Wages pickling lime and of course RO water.
